All work and no play make me a dull girl
My sincere apologies for being so absent from the blogworld out there! I don't expect anyone to be crying in front of their computer screens due to my lack of blogging enthusiasm lately but it's nice to pretend :) I will try to improve my updating skills I promise! These days I work seven days a week and am pretty much as active as a tub of yogurt in the evenings...baby steps! So what are you guys doing these days? Preparing for christmas, trying to forget christmas exists or working your butts off like me? Merry christmas preparations either way! :D

Puppies!!Puppies,puppies,puppies!
On Saturday I went to visit my brother who is watching some dogs for a family friend. One of the dogs had a litter of puppies about ten weeks ago so I got to play with all the puppies :D Complete and utter bliss! Puppies are the cutest things on the planet! These are a wire-haired dachshund breed and are adorable beyond belief!
My shoes were particularly interesting :)

Yearning for yarn!
The weather is rapidly getting colder here so I decided to knit myself a scarf! A circle scarf to be exact, which is quite easy if you have time and knitting needles and are handicapped when it comes to knitting intricate stuff. The knitting needles are quite large, size 8/9 so you can see progress quite quickly. The yarn I used is an alpaca blend in a dark grey which is soft against the skin, me like! My goal is to knit myself a sweater with the help of nice aunts and co-workers! Hopefully I'll be done by christmas, but if this rain keeps up I might be able to finish before. Any others out there that feel like knitting recipes are written in chinese?

An apple a day keeps the doctor away!
On Sunday I had a little helper in the yard, which resulted in way too many apples in my kitchen. So when life gives you apples- make pie! We started with a fairly simple apple crumble (although the recipe should have said more apples, it was a bit dry) and ended with a fantastic apple pie that looked like the pie from a cartoon window sill. For the pie recipe we needed a whooping 1,5 kg/ 3 lb of apples, luckily I had plenty of hands to help :) Now I'm off to pick more apples that will be sliced and diced and put in the freezer so I can make pies, cakes and crumbles all winter long! Got any recipe tips with apples for me?`

I'm an extra
A couple of weeks ago I had a day off (as I work part-time in a bookstore I have loads of them) and decided to use it constructively by applying as an extra in a tv-series. Right now TV2 Norway is filming a mini series based on the The Half Brother/Halvbroren by Lars Saabye Christensen (Norwegian literary royalty) which will air in early 2013 I heard. The setting was a smokey bar in Berlin in 1990 and the main character is pitching a porn movie to a danish filmmaker. I, along with plenty of retired people and an assortment of youngsters were supposed to be the patrons of the bar and were made to mime in the background (as one guy put it "You are shadows"). At the costume try-outs I was put in some horrendously uncomfortable shoes and was glad that we were supposed to be quiet and hence had to film everything shoeless! What I learned was:
A) Respect filmmakers, they film every scene from about twenty different angles and therefore the actors need to repeat everything about fifty times!
B) When you are retired, being an extra is great! You get to sit around and knit while waiting for scene setup and you get paid for pretending to prance around in costumes...sounds like a much better way to spend your day then sitting in a retirement home solving crossword puzzles!
C) The hourly rate is crappy and you have to bring your own lunch...so if you actually have a job that pays somewhat well this is more exciting for the experience than the money!
D) How people survived the eighties dressed in polyester and taffeta is beyond me!
Attached are a scary looking picture of yours truly (it was 06:30 AM!!) and the aforementioned shoes! Quelle horrible!

Being gay is okay!
So I'm reading online news, and my heart broke when I read about a fourteen year old gay boy that committed suicide due to bullying. Can you imagine being in that dark of a place at that tender age that you feel the need to take your own life? Why is this still an issue? Like belief or the color of your skin, your sexuality should not be an issue for other people! It doesn't affect other people in ANY way so why do some people have the need to butt their noses in?! It makes me so angry to hear some of the american politicians speak up about this, one senator from Kentucky actually had the audacity to say that young people with strong christian morals (i.e. that homosexuality is a sin) shouldn't be hounded for having an opinion!!WTF?! So just because their morals fit yours, it's supposed to be okay to bully someone to death?? How would christians feel if they couldn't go to school for fear of being taunted and ridiculed? When will people realize that people are individuals and we should never judge anyone for who they are or what they believe!? I'm not religious, but I pray that my kids will be able to grow up in a world where it's okay to be gay, black, bi, white, transgendered, red, stupid, smart, christian, muslim and everything else!
Rest in peace Jamey Rodemeyer and all the others that have seen no other way..

You want fries with that?
So I love junk food just as much as the next person, but if it made me physically unable to sit in a booth I would definitely stop eating it. A "horizontally challenged" man is now suing a fast-food chain in the US for having booths at their restaurant that don't allow him to sit comfortably...uhm...shouldn't that be a major sign to start dieting?? I know americans can get a little suing crazy but shouldn't the madness end somewhere?? Grown-ups need to take some responsibility and not blame others for whatever problems they have. This man has obviously been living on too much food and too little exercise. Instead of complaining about the booths at White Castle he should try an elliptical machine or a stationary bike at the gym, they fit ALL sizes ;) What are your thoughts on suing fast food chains?

Monkeying around
Today I'm visiting a good friend who just had a beautiful little baby boy, and as he is such a new world citizen I thought I would bring him a friend! He looks like a Bobo to me but maybe another name would be more fitting? You are more than welcome to leave a suggestion! Have a good one!

Music for the soul
Many years ago, at Roskilde Festival, a girl told me that listening to Wilco helped her get over
a difficult break-up...so now I'm trying the same! Maybe this song will heal your soul as well in
some way?!
